# Signing in

> Every Day colleagues sign in with Microsoft; external users with email, password and two-factor authentication.

There are two ways to sign in. Which one you use depends on your email address.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Every Day colleague">
    On the sign-in screen, click **Sign in with Microsoft** (*Inloggen met Microsoft*) and sign in with your Every Day account.

    * The first time, Tolk creates an account for you automatically, with your name and email address from Microsoft. You have no projects yet: a manager of a project adds you to the team.
    * Microsoft handles two-factor authentication, so Tolk does not ask for a code of its own.
    * An address on the Every Day domain cannot sign in with a password. This way Microsoft's security cannot be bypassed.

    <Note>
      Don't see the button, or does Tolk say that signing in with Microsoft is not available? Contact Every Day.
    </Note>
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="External user">
    External users, such as translators or customers, receive an invitation by email from `no-reply@every-day.nl`. You cannot register yourself. The link in the invitation is valid for 7 days.

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Accept the invitation">
        Open the link in the email and choose a password. Your password has at least 12 characters, upper and lower case letters, at least one digit and one symbol, and it must not appear in a known list of leaked passwords.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Set up two-factor authentication">
        Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, such as Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password, and enter the 6-digit code. Two-factor authentication is mandatory: without it you cannot use Tolk.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Store your recovery codes">
        Tolk shows recovery codes. You use them to sign in if you lose your phone. Each code works once. Keep them in a safe place, for example in your password manager.
      </Step>
    </Steps>

    After that, you sign in with your email address, your password and a code from your authenticator app.
  </Tab>

## Your profile

Under **Profile** (*Profiel*) you see your name, email address and sign-in method. This is also where you choose the language of Tolk and of the emails you receive: Dutch or English. If you choose **Automatic (browser language)** (*Automatisch (browsertaal)*), Tolk follows the language of your browser.
