# Projects

> Create, configure, archive and delete a project.

The **Projects** (*Projecten*) home page shows all projects of the active customer, with their logo, the languages (as round flags, source language first), the progress, the number of keys and the team. Hover over a flag to see the name and progress of that language.

* At the top, the **Plan** card shows the number of keys and active projects against the limits of the customer's [plan](/guide/plan-and-usage).
* Switch customers with the customer switcher in the navigation bar. If you open a project of another customer, that customer becomes active automatically.
* To search, use the search icon in the navigation bar, or <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> (<kbd>Ctrl</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> on Windows): search for a project, language, user or customer and open it with <kbd>Enter</kbd>.

## Create a project

<Steps>
  <Step title="New project">
    Every Day creates new projects: contact your Tolk contact for a new project. If the customer has reached the limit of active projects of its plan, a new project is only possible after archiving one or with a larger plan.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the details">
    Enter the **Project name** (*Projectnaam*) and choose the **Type**: Laravel, WordPress theme, WordPress plugin or other. Among other things, the type determines which placeholders Tolk checks by default.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose languages">
    Choose the **Source language** (*Brontaal*), the language of the texts in the code, and optionally the **Target languages** (*Doeltalen*) right away, from the [fixed language list](/guide/languages#the-language-list).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Repository (optional)">
    Enter the GitHub repository, for example `everyday-nl/webshop`. It is used in the export report and the GitHub Action.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Then connect the project to the code with an [API token](/guide/api-tokens), or [import](/guide/importing) the existing language files.

## Settings

A manager finds the settings of a project under **Settings** (*Instellingen*):

| Page | What you set |
| - | - |
| **Settings** (*Instellingen*), the first page | Name, type, repository and, for WordPress, the text domain. The [project logo](#project-logo). Which [placeholders](/guide/placeholders) Tolk checks. Whether the project uses [AI translation](/guide/ai-translation), with its own instruction for AI |
| **Languages** (*Talen*) | The source language and the fallback per language. See [Languages](/guide/languages) |
| **Team** | Who works on the project, with which role and which languages. See [Team](/guide/team) |
| **API tokens** (*API-tokens*) | Tokens for the package and CI. See [API tokens](/guide/api-tokens) |
| **Webhooks** | Messages to other services. See [Webhooks](/guide/webhooks) |
| **Archive** (*Archiveren*) | Archive, restore or delete the project |

## Project logo

Under **Settings › Logo**, a manager gives the project a logo: PNG, JPG or WebP, at most 1 MB and 32 to 2048 pixels; a square logo works best. The logo is saved immediately and then appears in the project overview, the project header and search, instead of the colored letter. **Remove logo** (*Logo verwijderen*) brings the letter back.

## Archive and restore

Archive a project that is not in use for a while. It then becomes read-only: nobody can translate or change settings, and the API tokens stop working. Exporting still works. Archived projects are listed on the home page under the **Archived** (*Gearchiveerd*) tab. A manager can restore the project there or via **Settings › Archive**, as long as the number of active projects stays within the plan. An archived project does not count towards the project limit, but its keys do count towards the key limit.

## Delete

Under **Settings › Archive › Delete project** (*Project verwijderen*) you delete a project. Type the name of the project to confirm.

<Warning>
  All keys, translations, tokens and webhooks are permanently deleted. After a short retention period (30 days by default), Tolk removes the project completely. You cannot undo this yourself.
